@AfNutr offers free AfN Endorsed CPD and networking activities for nutrition students, Associate and Registered Nutritionists, all facilitated by three UKVRN Registrants.
Our AfN Endorsed Twitter chats are held bi-monthly, covering various nutrition topics intended for AfN ANutr and RNutr – however anyone, from any profession, can join in.
Our virtual cafés are held in between, organised via Eventbrite with support from AfN which are held on Zoom. These are hosted by one of the @AfNutr team and often supported by volunteer registrants.
OUR MISSION IS:
- To provide a regular moderated twitter chat for all nutrition professionals across all six areas of AfN specialisms. @AfNutr is currently the only twitter chat for nutrition professionals to do this.
- To support AfN Registrants in providing high standards of practice by encouraging learning and networking. Given the nature of busy job roles or studies, it can often be difficult to find the time to meet new nutrition professionals.
- To develop a friendly, virtual network for nutrition professionals to discuss current issues in nutrition and professional development within a supportive environment.
OUR FOUR KEY VALUES:
@AfNutr has created a friendly and welcoming environment which aims to help individuals network, gain confidence and support professional growth. Having access to a supportive environment with trusted people allows you to get feedback and direction.
We support and promote high standards of practice in accordance with AfN, meeting rigorously applied standards for scientifically sound evidence-based nutrition. As AfN registrants, we can be found on the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists, which is the only register of qualified nutritionists recognised by Public Health England, NHS Choices and NHS Careers.
The Association for Nutrition (AfN) is the independent charity that holds and regulates the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN). It is a register of competent, qualified nutrition professionals who meet rigorously applied standards for scientifically sound evidence-based nutrition and its use in practice. Once accepted onto the Register, nutritionists are entitled to have the letters ANutr (Registered Associate Nutritionist) or RNutr (Registered Nutritionist) after their name.
Learning from other nutrition professionals is invaluable. Connecting with AfN registrants facilitates professional development and allows the opportunity to enhance nutritional knowledge, catalyzing growth.
Although @AfNutr is aimed at ANutr and RNutr’s, we welcome anyone who would like to get involved. We are online based, allowing networking and support opportunities wherever you are based. Our resources and activities are free, run by three RNutr volunteers and supported by the AfN.
The focus of @AfNutr will be the remit of Registered Nutritionists in all specialisms. Clinically orientated topics or management or therapeutic treatment of disease will not be covered as this is within the scope of dietetic practice. We do encourage Registered Dietitians to participate and we welcome input from all Allied Health Professionals.
