@AfNutr is a moderated conversation held once a month on Twitter covering various nutrition topics. AfN stands for Association for Nutrition, the independent charity that holds and regulates the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN). It is a register of competent, qualified nutrition professionals who meet rigorously applied standards for scientifically sound evidence-based nutrition and its use in practice.  Once accepted onto the Register, nutritionists are entitled to have the letters ANutr (Registered Associate Nutritionist) or RNutr (Registered Nutritionist) after their name.

The hour-long twitter session is led by Laura, Vicki, Lynn and Suzanne, four qualified nutrition professionals, who are skilled in a range of nutrition topics and share a love of all things food. They are keen to debate and share information on any nutrition related issue – the latest news story, a new study, debate the latest controversial fad, trend or campaign.

Join our Twitter chats no matter what your background, occupation or experience on Twitter.  You can use #AfNutrChat to help update you on current issues or even to help you separate fact from fiction. Everyone is welcome, it is not exclusive to AfN Registered Nutritionists.  If you need some guidance to get the most from the chats, check out our tips for tweeting.

The focus of the @AfNutr chat will be within our remit as Registered Nutritionists, i.e., nutrition science, public health, sport & exercise, food and animal science.  The focus is not to discuss clinically orientated topics or cover the management or therapeutic treatment of disease, as this is within the scope of dietetic practice only. We do, however, encourage Registered Dietitians to participate in our discussions. We very much welcome input from all Allied Health Professionals.
